The Walter Gerrells Performing Arts & Exhibition Center is the concert hall for Carlsbad, Eddy County, and southeastern New Mexico. The theater seats more than 2,000 and has a 60-foot stage. The exhibition hall is about 14,000 square feet and seats 1,200. Carlsbad Live books the public shows and rents both rooms. The building is at 4012 National Parks Hwy, Carlsbad, NM 88220.

- The theater seats more than 2,000 and has a 60-foot stage. The exhibition hall is about 14,000 square feet and seats 1,200.
- Can I rent the venue?
- Yes. Start a rental request online for the theater, the exhibition hall, or both. The date is not guaranteed until Carlsbad Live countersigns and the deposit is received.
- Who books the concerts?
- Carlsbad Live, LLC books the public shows and private events. Curtis McKinney manages the Walter Gerrells Center.
Security
Preferred security for a rental
Eleet Investigations & Security is already vetted, with documents on file. You can still bring your own company if it meets New Mexico law. Pricing is below. Booking is only in the rental contract.
Eleet Investigations & Security
Eleet Investigations & Security is Carlsbad Live’s preferred security company. Carlsbad Live and the Walter Gerrells Performing Arts Center have already vetted them, and their documents are on file.
You may use your own company if it meets the requirements. Security is required when alcohol is served, and the company stays until the event is over, not only until the bar stops serving.
Guards are registered at Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3. That is what New Mexico law requires for the work each person does.
- Level 1 guard: $35.00 per hour, per guard
- Level 2 guard: $45.00 per hour, per guard
- Level 3 guard: $55.00 per hour, per guard
Staffing is one guard per 100 people, with a minimum of two guards on site. Eleet bills the renter directly. That charge is not added to the Carlsbad Live rental invoice.
You cannot book security from this page. The details are in the rental contract. Choose Eleet or your own company there, after you say the event will serve alcohol.
